The City Attorney is appointed by the City Council and acts as the City’s general legal counsel. The City Attorney’s Office advises the City Council, City Departments, District and Agency Boards. Additionally, the City Attorney represents the City in regulatory and court proceedings and works with all Departments of the City on matters concerning City operations.

The City Attorney investigates claims filed against the City, prosecutes and investigates criminal filings and/or citations issued by the Police Department and reviews Requests for Formal Complaints presented by Code Enforcement for violations of the Simi Valley Municipal Code.
