Are You Ready to ShakeOut?

The Great California ShakeOut is held  annually on the 3rd Thursday of October. This year's drill will be held on October 19, 2023. It is a day of special events featuring the largest earthquake drill ever, organized to inspire Californians to get ready for big earthquakes, and to prevent disasters from becoming catastrophes.

What we do now, before a big earthquake, will determine what our lives will be like afterwards. Visit the Great California ShakeOut page for more information.

My Emergency Plan Preparedness Booklet

My Emergency Plan Page Header

Simi Valley Office of Emergency Services has created the My Emergency Plan preparedness booklet to help you best plan for an emergency and provide local emergency information before, during, and after an incident. The 3 basic steps to being prepared for any emergency are: Make a plan. Build a kit. Stay informed. Download a booklet in English or Spanish on the My Emergency Plan page.

Emergency Notification System - VC Alert

The City of Simi Valley uses VC Alert, a high-speed emergency notification system, to deliver critical messages (voicemail, email, and texts) about local emergencies and other important community news. VC Alert may be used to deliver alerts when there is a threat to the health or safety of residents. You may also sign up to receive community alerts. The VC Alert Emergency Notification System database currently includes all listed and unlisted landline telephone numbers in Simi Valley that are serviced by AT&T. If you would like to be contacted on your cellular phone, work phone, TTY device, email, or fax, or via instant messaging, you must register that information using the opt-in portal. All information you provide will be kept strictly confidential. VC Alert is a free service.  Please visit Ready Ventura County for more information.

Simi Valley Emergency Plan

The City's SEMS Multi-Hazard Functional Plan (MHFP) addresses the City of Simi Valley's planned response to extraordinary emergency situations associated with natural disasters, technological incidents, and national security emergencies.
