The City of Simi Valley seeks to obtain products and services required by the City at the lowest price. To accomplish this goal, competitive bids and proposals are solicited from vendors on an as-needed basis.

Under the City's purchasing ordinance, all purchases or contracts for supplies, equipment, maintenance services, or public contracts with an estimated value between $45,000 and $175,000 require the use of an informal bid, and contracts estimated to be over $175,000 are required to use the formal bid process. Both informal and formal bid procedures require that:

  • Notices inviting bids describe the bid items in general terms, reference how to obtain more detailed information about the bid items, and state the date, time, and place for submission of sealed bids;
  • Sealed bids be submitted to the Purchasing Agent;
  • Bids be opened publicly at the time and place stated in the notice inviting bids; and
  • Contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder.

Requests for Proposals

Notices concerning Requests for Proposals may be included in the listing below, however, since cost is not necessarily the primary basis for award, Requests for Proposals are not publicly opened and declared.

In an effort to promote the competitive bidding environment, below is a listing of all informal and formal projects currently being solicited. The City is currently inviting bids or requesting proposals for the following.
