Route 10 - New Route 10 modifications effective May 6, 2024

Effective November 6, 2023, the eastbound Route 10 bus departing Moorpark College will no longer service Township Avenue to the Civic Center. The westbound Route 10 bus departing Chatsworth Metrolink will continue to service Township Avenue to the Civic Center. 

College Students and Youth Ride Free

We are happy to announce that college students will ride for free again this school year, same as last year. In addition, we are excited to announce that youth can also ride free for the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 school year. Riders can travel to any destination at any time, as of September 1, on any public transit bus in Ventura County. To ride, simply show your School ID. Full Fare and Reduced Fare

Full Fare and Reduce Fare prices are listed below. Cash/Coin only- exact fare required. Drivers are unable to give change. Passes are also accepted. No credit cards or personal checks are accepted.

Seniors age 65 and over, ADA-certified individuals, and Medicare card holders are eligible for reduced fares and must submit an application for a Reduced Fare Identification Card.

Passengers using Reduced Fare passes must supply proper identification upon boarding busses that show they are a senior aged 65 and over, an ADA-certified individual, and/or a Medicare card holder.  

• Single trip - $1.50 full fare/$0.75 reduced fare
• Unlimited day pass - $5.00 full fare/$2.50 reduced fare
• Unlimited monthly pass - $50.00 full fare/$25.00 reduced fare
• Ride passes available at discounted full and reduced fare rates
• Transfers available for connections to Ventura County Transportation Commission InterCity Bus upon request

Unlimited Daily and Monthly Passes

Daily, monthly, and discounted bulk ride passes may be purchased at City Hall and at most middle and senior high schools. Unlimited daily and monthly passes can only be used by a single passenger. The fare box will not allow multiple passengers to board using the same pass.

To activate an Unlimited Pass insert (dip) the pass into the top of the fare box. These passes may be swiped for subsequent trips.

Daily Passes once activated will be valid until the end of service on the calendar day activated. Monthly Passes are valid for 31 consecutive days from the time of activation.

Ride Passes

Ride passes are valid for the number of rides designated on the pass and may be used for the boarding of multiple passengers at one time. Ride passes must be dipped for each boarding.

Payment through the Fare Box

Using the fare box, you can pay with bills or coins, by swiping a pass, or dipping a pass (see image below).

Token Transit Mobile Fare Payment

Token Transit mobile pass lets you ride Simi Valley Transit with ease and convenience. Pay with your credit or debit card, and always have your pass with you. You may purchase and store your pass with a smartphone by using the mobile ticketing app which offers an alternative to cash and paper passes.

Simply download the Token Transit App , link it to a credit or debit card and purchase tickets for immediate and future use.

Lost or Damaged Bus Passes

Bus passes are non-refundable and non-replaceable. If a pass is lost or damaged, it cannot be replaced. If a pass malfunctions or you have questions about its validity, please call (805) 583-6456.

Simi Valley Transit (SVT) has provided safe, low-cost, high-quality transportation services throughout Simi Valley for forty years. SVT services include fixed-route bus and Americans with Disabilities Act Paratransit/Dial-A-Ride (ADA/DAR) transportation.

SVT services operate Monday - Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

SVT Policies

Only certified service animals, or animals confined in an approved animal carrier, are allowed on SVT vehicles.

All SVT buses are equipped with bike racks. For bike mounting instructions, please refer to our Bikes on Buses brochure.

Seniors and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to utilize the City's fixed-route bus system. The fleet is ADA-accessible, with all buses equipped with ramps and wheelchair accessible seating. Reduced fares (half price) are available for seniors age 65 and older, individuals with an ADA-certified disability, and/or Medicare Card Holders. Connections

Transportation to communities within Ventura County is made possible though connections with Ventura County VCTC-East County located at the Simi Valley Town Center Mall.

The City of Simi Valley's fixed-route bus service also provides connections with Los Angeles County’s METRO in the San Fernando Valley community of Chatsworth.

Americans with Disabilities Act/Dial-A-Ride services (ADA/DAR) are shared ride services provided within Simi Valley on an "origin to destination" basis to individuals with special needs who are ADA certified and to seniors aged 65 and over. ADA-certified individuals may request "door-to-door" service at the time they book their ride.

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements for ADA/DAR service fall into two categories:

• Individuals with disabilities, of any age, must be certified as meeting ADA eligibility requirements
• Individuals seeking ADA certification should contact Mobility Management Partners (MMP) at (888) 667-7001 to complete an application. An ADA Application must be on file with MMP prior to making appointments for ADA services. Individuals aged 65 and over qualify for Dial-A-Ride transportation as seniors

Fares

Exact fare, cash only, is required on Simi Valley Transit's ADA/DAR service. ADA-certified passengers must pay a required fare of $2.00 for each one-way trip. No additional fee is charged for a Personal Care Attendant whose ADA-certification includes approval for a Personal Care Attendant.

Personal Care Attendants or companion/guest passengers who are not ADA-certified must pay a required fare of $2.00 for each one-way trip. ADA/DAR passes may also be purchased in booklets of ten (10) passes for $20.00.

Cashless Payment system for the ADA/DAR Riders. This new electronic payment option will allow you to use the service by paying in advance without the need to carry cash or tickets. Please contact 805-583-6464 for more information on the E-Fare program.

Applications Being Accepted for ADA Paratransit Advisory Committee Members

Applications are being accepted to fill five positions on the City of Simi Valley's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Paratransit Advisory Committee. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older, and meet one of the following: have an ADA-certified disability, or regularly use the City's ADA Paratransit/Dial-A-Ride service, live in a household with an individual who is a regular user of the City's ADA Paratransit/Dial-A-Ride service, or are actively associated with a public or private agency providing services to the disabled. Successful applicants will be appointed by the City Council to serve a two-year term beginning June 2024. 

Serving as an advisory board to the City Council, the seven-member ADA Paratransit Advisory Committee meets quarterly to review public Paratransit issues affecting individuals with disabilities, typically the 3rd Thursday of the month, 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

CONNECT InterCity Regional ADA/Dial-A-Ride Service

Senior passengers ages 65 and above, and passengers certified under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may travel throughout most of eastern Ventura County without having to transfer between transit providers.

CONNECT InterCity service transports passengers to Moorpark, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, and Camarillo, as well as nearby unincorporated areas, such as Newbury Park and Santa Susana Knolls. The service also connects to western Ventura County through a transfer to Gold Coast Transit and provides connections to Chatsworth through Simi Valley Transit.

CONNECT InterCity service costs $6.00 each way.

Simi Valley Transit has prepared a Short Range Transit Plan. The Plan is a five-year strategic plan that provides for the development and implementation of transportation service improvements in Simi Valley. The Short Range Transit Plan has been developed by Mobility Planners, LLC.

Purpose

The purpose of the Simi Valley Transit Title VI Program is as follows:

• Ensure that the level and quality of public transportation service is provided in a nondiscriminatory manner;
• Promote the full and fair participation in public transportation decision-making without regard to race, color, or national origin; and
• Ensure the meaningful access to transit-related programs and activities by persons with limited English proficiency.

Pursuant to the Federal Transit Administration’s Circular FTA C 4702.1B, dated October 1, 2012, Simi Valley Transit is subject to the General Requirements of Chapter III and the system-wide service standards and system-wide service policies set forth for Fixed Route Transit Providers in Chapter IV. The remaining requirements of Chapter IV are not applicable because Simi Valley Transit does not meet the threshold of operating 50 or more fixed route vehicles in peak service and is not located in an Urbanized Area of 200,000 population.

Complaints

The City of Simi Valley/Simi Valley Transit is committed to ensuring that no person is excluded from participation in, or denied the benefits of, its services on the basis of race, color, or national origin as protected by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended.

• No person or group of persons will be discriminated against with regard to routing, scheduling, or quality of transportation service that Simi Valley Transit furnishes, on the basis of race, color, or national origin.
• Frequency of service, age, and quality of Simi Valley Transit vehicles assigned to routes, quality of bus stops, and location of routes will not be determined on the basis of race, color, or national origin.

How to File a Complaint

Any person who believes that he or she has, individually, or as a member of any specific class of persons, been subjected to discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin may file a Title VI complaint with the City of Simi Valley. The complaint should be submitted by the complainant and his/her designee as soon as possible, but must be filed within 180 days of the date of the alleged discrimination.

The City of Simi Valley’s Title VI Complaint Form may be used to detail the complaint, but is not mandatory. Complaint forms may also be obtained by calling (805) 583-6739. The City will provide appropriate assistance to complainants who are limited in their ability to communicate in English.

In addition to the Title VI complaint process at the City of Simi Valley, a complainant may file a Title VI complaint with the Federal Transit Administration, Office of Civil Rights, Region IX, 201 Mission Street, Suite 1650, San Francisco, California 94105-1839.

How Complaints are Processed

All complaints alleging discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in services provided by the City of Simi Valley will be investigated promptly. The City will acknowledge, in writing, the receipt of the complaint within 10 business days. Based upon the receipt of all information required, the investigation will be completed within 90 calendar days of receipt. If the City submits a written request to the complainant to provide additional information, the receipt of additional relevant information may extend the timing of the complaint resolution.

Upon conclusion of the Title VI Officer’s investigation, he/she will issue one of two letters to the complainant: a closure letter or a letter of finding (LOF). A closure letter summarizes the allegations and states that there was not a Title VI violation and that the case will be closed. An LOF summarizes the allegations and the interviews regarding the alleged incident, and explains whether any disciplinary action, additional training of the staff member, or other action will occur. If the complainant wishes to appeal the decision, she/he has 10 business days after the date of the letter or the LOF to do so.

Citizen's Transportation Advisory Committee / Social Services Transportation Advisory Committee (CTAC/SSTAC)

The CTAC/SSTAC is charged with providing input to the Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) on a variety of transportation issues, including the review of findings developed from an annual public hearing on possible "unmet transit needs", which is held each Spring.

The CTAC/SSTAC is composed of representatives appointed by the VCTC, the County of Ventura, the 10 cities in Ventura County (including Simi Valley), and from social service agencies involved in transportation services and projects.

The CTAC/SSTAC meets four times per year in January, April, June, and September. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month at the County Government Center Hall of Justice Pacific Meeting Room at 1:30 p.m.

Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Paratransit Advisory Committee

The Simi Valley Transit Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Paratransit Advisory Committee consists of seven individuals who hold quarterly public meetings to review and discuss ADA Paratransit issues such as service policies, service availability, accessibility, safety, and training.

The Committee serves an an advisory board to the City Council and meets quarterly to review public Paratransit issues affecting individuals with disabilities.

The Committee meets at City Hall on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

FFY 2022-2024 Proposed DBE Goal for FTA-Assisted Contracts

As a direct reipient of U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) federal funds, the City of Simi Valley has developed its Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Program and the Overall DBE Goal Setting Methodology for the Federal Fiscal Years (FFY) 2022-2024.

The DBE Program document, approved by the FTA, provides a complete overview of the DBA program. The program document covering three years ending September 30, 2021, has been re-evaluated and remains effective for another three years until September 30, 2024.

The DBE Goal document provides a detailed explanation of the goal-setting methodology. The current DBE Goal is 5%, utilizing race-neutral measures. The DBE Goal will affect FTA-assisted contracts solicited and awarded from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2024.
