The Code Enforcement Section enforces municipal ordinances and permit compliance by promoting voluntary compliance through working in partnership with the citizens and businesses of Simi Valley.

We respond to citizen questions and concerns, administer programs, and enforce regulations that preserve, protect, and enhance the livability, appearance, and the social and economic conditions of the community.

Code Compliance Officers respond to violations of the Municipal Code, which include the following issues:

Stagnant Swimming Pools

Mosquito transmitted diseases are a potential danger for anyone living in the region. We urge every Simi Valley resident to be on the lookout for stagnant bodies of water that could be a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

This may include swimming pools, fountains, ponds, and other water sources that are not maintained. The Simi Valley Municipal Code Section 6-9.01, which prohibits stagnant pools of water, states; “No person shall allow, suffer, permit, or maintain, whether by commission or omission, any standing or stagnant pool of water which, if left untreated or unabated, may be a source for mosquito breeding, uncontrolled weedy growth, or cause a malodorous condition or a condition dangerous for children.”

If you know about a stagnant pool or other body of water, please contact us at (805) 583-6753, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. or complete and submit a Code Enforcement Complaint Form online.
