The City of Simi Valley offers a variety of ways for businesses, developers, residents, and visitors to apply for permits. These include permits associated with construction, business operations, filming, parking, and special events.

Processes may vary, but many permits can be applied for online. Please click on any of the buttons below to learn more about the City of Simi Valley permit process.

Permits For Residents and Businesses:

Construction (Home/Business)
Including roofing, solar, electrical, and plumbing permits.
Filming
The City welcomes filmmakers to take advantage of it's unique geography and proximity to L.A.
Home Occupation
Required if you are operating your business out of a residence.
Massage
Massage practitioners and establishments both require permits to operate in Simi Valley.
Oversized Vehicle Parking
Short-term, temporary parking for the oversized vehicles for guests or due to a hardship.
Signs
Learn about temporary or permanent sign requirements and when you need a permit.
Solicitor's
For canvassers, merchants, peddlers, and solicitors.
Special Events
Begin planning your festivals, car show, fundraising runs, or other cultural events with a Special Event Permit.
Temporary Use
Temporary Use Permits for sales, public assembly, construction, food vendors, and produce stands.
Sidewalk Vendors
Required if you wish to operate a non-motorized cart.
Block Party

Permits For Developers, Builders, and Contractors:

Conditional Use
A Conditional Use Permit for activities in applicable zoning districts.
Encroachment and Grading
The Encroachment Permit Application is not available online. Please call Public Works at (805) 583-6786.
Planned Development
For residential development projects (two or more units), and for all commercial and industrial developments.
Sewer Connection
Availability and Will-Serve Letters
Wastewater Discharge
Learn if your business is required to have a wastewater discharge permit.
Water Service Connection
Availability and Will-Serve Letters

Certain permits may only be obtained by speaking with the Customer Services Division. These permits include:
