==== REQUEST PERMITS @ MINIMUM 2 BUSINESS DAYS IN ADVANCE OF NEED ======

“Temporary permits to allow for the short-term, temporary parking for the vehicles of bona fide guests or for the parking of the resident's vehicle due to a HARDSHIP situation otherwise prohibited pursuant to Section 4-9.402 of this chapter, may be determined and obtained, on a case by case basis,…”

VISITORS - There is no grace period for Non-Residents parking an Oversized Vehicle without a Permit. If parked on a City street, a permit must be obtained to be in compliance.

RESIDENTS - Oversized vehicles, trailers or fifth wheel travel trailers, may be parked for less than forty-eight (48) consecutive hours if parked  in front of or adjacent to the owner's residence (Registered Address) for the purpose of loading, unloading, maintaining, or other activity incidental to preparation for and solely for general recreation-related activities.  No Permit is required for less than 48 hours.

(1) Permits may be issued for any bona fide guest of a resident for a vehicle that is registered to an address that is not within the City. For purposes of this section, "bona fide guest" shall mean any natural person who is not a resident of the City and who is temporarily visiting a resident of the City. Temporary permits may also be issued to any Owner/Resident of an oversized vehicle, trailer, or fifth wheel travel trailer based upon hardship circumstances that necessitate parking upon the street for a period exceeding the forty-eight (48) hour specified time limit for loading/unloading or for emergency repairs: provided that such a request is related to property improvements or other similar activities. Temporary permits may be conditional in order to minimize impacts on the surrounding neighborhood and shall expire at midnight on the date designated on the permit.

(2) Permits shall be valid for a period not to exceed ten (10) consecutive calendar days. Additional permits may be issued; provided however, that in no event shall more than six (6) permits be issued during any calendar year for guests of any residence of the City. No more than three (3) consecutive permits may be issued.

(3) Permits may be denied if it is determined that the proposed parking location would create a safety hazard.

 (4) The City of Simi Valley strongly recommends utilizing a Pedestrian Safety Cable Cover for any sidewalk if an electrical cord is being used to power Recreation Vehicle accessories while parked at the permit location. Permits may be cancelled if cabling is found to be unsafe.

(5) The City of Simi Valley prohibits parking or standing of any vehicle in a position so as to obstruct the normal movement of traffic or in a condition so as to create a hazard to other traffic upon the street or upon any sidewalk which may include, without limitation, the Deployment of RV pop-outs or other extensions into the public right-of-way.

(6) The City of Simi Valley prohibits the Repairing-Modifying of Vehicles in the street. (SVMC 7125.) There is some leeway in the interpretation but if the vehicle is made inoperable during the repair-modification, it is not to be completed in the street. There is an exception for emergency repairs, but emergency repairs must be completed within 48 hours.

PERMITS MAY BE CANCELLED IF VEHICLE IS FOUND TO BE PARKED IN A MANNER IN VIOLATION OF ANY CITY OF SIMI VALLEY MUNICIPAL CODE.
