The State of California requires businesses that are generating 4 cubic yards or more of waste per week to implement a recycling program. The City of Simi Valley and its franchised solid waste hauler are available to assist businesses and multifamily developments in identifying recycle programs and materials as they establish recycling and organic waste programs in accordance with the State’s commercial recycling laws (AB 341 and AB 1826).

State Laws

AB 341 and AB 1826 require cities to educate, conduct outreach, and monitor affected businesses and multifamily developments’ compliance with these recycling requirements. The City is also required to report this information to the State on an annual basis. Businesses that are not in compliance will continue to receive follow up notices and information.
